Sussex were fourth in the veterans' county championship premier division at Knutsford, Cheshire, well clear of the drop zone.
Their only victory was a 7-3 success over Dorset. Brighton's John Clarke was the star player with victory in both his singles matches and the doubles with Sheila King.
Nigel Eckersley has risen one place to number four on the new England veterans' list.
Eckersley, 52, from Uckfield, lost in the fourth round of the Southern Masters at Bracknell. He went out to bogey player Mike Short, from Devon.
Paul Barry is the new Hastings champion. He won the title for a ninth time with victory against Keith Yarnley in the final.
