I am astonished you reported that the BNP may be standing in the Euro elections in our region, complete with photo of their "chairman" Nick Griffin (The Argus, April 2).
There will doubtless be many fringe organisations who will stand, all with chances of success close to zero, so why pick out the BNP?
I presume the reason is because you, like me, find their politics repugnant, but as your editorial correctly observes "(one danger) is that publicity will help rather than hinder the BNP by bringing it to the attention of many who would otherwise not have been interested." Exactly.
I am reminded of a tabloid front page from some years ago: "Why Princess Di should be left alone - see pages 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6."
