We would like to thank your readers for their overwhelming support and genuine repugnance at the lenient sentence imposed on Graham Travers.
We can only assume the judge and David Stone (Letters, March 25) have not had the privilege of raising a family and therefore cannot begin to understand the devastation caused by having your daughter taken away at such a young age and so needlessly.
We would like to thank everyone for their support - we have received more than 10,000 signatures for our petition in two weeks - and especially our MP Tim Loughton.
May we also take this opportunity to thank The Argus for the professional and sensitive manner in which you have reported this tragic incident.
Our objectives are to have the law changed to require drivers to display the relevant valid documents on the windscreen of the vehicle and to have sentences amended so drivers who kill with no driving licence or insurance are charged with manslaughter.
Our family would like to voice our disgust at the comment of Mr Stone. He is obviously ignorant of the circumstances of the tragedy.
Perhaps he should have read a copy of the transcript of the trial before making such insensitive remarks.
