I agree with the comments of Andrea Geeson (Letters, April 17) with regard to The Sun and its portrayal of women.

However, if 60 per cent of women find The Sun to be offensive and if half of its readers are women, why do they continue to buy this trashy newspaper and why do so many women want to pose topless?

Furthermore, if women don't wish to be treated as sex objects, what is the reason for the current ugly fashion for them to expose their bare midriffs?

In my youth, women were far more modest and were treated with the respect they deserved.

It is hardly surprising, then, that this is no longer the case.
