Horsham have been relegated from the British League premier but could still play in the top division next season.
They finished second-bottom after four gruelling matches at Southall and lost the vital last match 7-1 to Darlington.
Darlington were captained by Sussex No. 1 Ritchie Venner who moved when Horsham were relegated three years ago. He was unbeaten against Horsham.
Plans to increase the number of premier teams from eight to 16 next season could save Horsham.
Captain Andy Walker said: "Peter Bartram, Stephen Beerling, Adrian Moore and Dominic Hall played their hearts out but most of these teams have some of the best players in England."
London Progress won the title for the sixth time in succession.
