Irregular, heavy, painful or multiple periods are not uncommon in women in England.
In India, many young and old women in semi-rural and urban areas prefer to treat any problems of uterine bleeding naturally with Ayurvedic medicine and Yoga.
Teenagers and young women, in particular, often go through a phase of painful irregular periods for which they may be prescribed hormone pills or painkillers.
But many would prefer not to introduce hormones or painkillers into their healthy body at such an early age.
One of the celebrated natural Ayurvedic preparations to help dysfunctional uterine bleeding and premenstrual and menopausal symptoms is Ashok arishtha.

But many would prefer not to introduce hormones or painkillers into their healthy body at such an early age.
One of the celebrated natural Ayurvedic preparations to help dysfunctional uterine bleeding and premenstrual and menopausal symptoms is Ashok arishtha.
The Central Council for Research in India has carried out controlled trials in several major hospitals comparing the Ayurvedic preparation Ashok arishtha with modern hormone pills in dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
The results were presented at the International Congress of Gynaecology in Florence, Italy, last year.
Their findings showed this Ayurvedic preparation significantly reduced bleeding time, reduced the amount of bleeding, reduced period pains and improved anaemia due to bleeding. It was also found to be as potent as Western hormone treatment without any side effects.
This natural herbal preparation does not contain hormones but seems to work by modulating and restoring the function of the tissues of the uterus. Ashok arishtha is made from the water extract of fourteen herbs which are allowed to ferment naturally in flowers of woodfordia fructosa (which provide natural yeast).
The main active ingredient is the extract of the flowers, bark and leaves of Saraca Indica (Ashoka).
The mixture also contains trifala Indian gooseberry and myrobalan fruits which are excellent antioxidants (said to clear free radicals in the body to prevent diseases like cancer, diabetes and heart disease). In addition to treating period problems, it is also said to give strength to the heart, help clear vaginal discharge and relieve piles.
Some of our patients have been taking Ashoka with good results;finding it beneficial to their periods, general health, PMT and menopausal symptoms.
No side effects have been seen in the usual doses. Contact us at the clinic address given below if you wish to try this natural way, following modern medical investigation.
