I was incensed to read that the gate to the Royal Pavilion gardens is
now closed because of problems with people using the Equinox addiction centre next to it (The Argus, April 21).
I didn't realise the closure was permanent. I use this path to reach my office in The Lanes when walking to work - a pleasant stroll through the gardens, much quieter than the busy path on the other side which passes the Royal Pavilion entrance.
Which other city would even consider allowing a centre for drug addicts and alcoholics to open right next door to its most important historical building?
Brighton and Hove City Council's planning committee has some apology to make.
Its decision to allow it now means residents and visitors have lost the use of one of the city's loveliest paths.
