I'm glad Ivor Caplin has finally seen the light and realised Iraq is a "bloodbath". He is now appalled at the "huge loss of life" (The Argus, April 22).
We've been trying to get such basic facts across to him for more than a year now.
The trouble is that he and his Government have played a large part in generating this carnage - a fact he is very much aware of but hides under his stated concern for humanity.
Unless, that is, he really believes his own Government's lies.
But never mind - when his brief period as an MP and a minister inevitably ends next year, he will have more time to contemplate the repercussions of his actions.
These actions have ripped Iraq apart and led to a massive loss of innocent life.
Maybe then his conscience will make him fully realise his shameful contribution to this sordid episode in UK and world history.
