More MPs have supported Albion's plans for a new stadium than publicly saluted England's victory in the rugby union World Cup.
Eighty MPs have already signed an early day motion (EDM) urging Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott to approve the plans for a 22,000-seat stadium near Falmer station.
That is one more than signed an EDM congratulating coach Sir Clive Woodward, captain Martin Johnson, Jonny Wilkinson and the rest of the England team for winning the World Cup last November.
In letters and emails to stadium supporters, a further seven MPs have promised to sign the pro-Falmer motion.
These signatures will boost the number to at least 87.
Members of the Government are not allowed to sign EDMs but 62 Labour MPs have so far joined 15 Conservatives and three Liberal Democrats in an unusual display of cross-party unity.
Although it is unusual for a motion relating to a particular geographical area to attract such widespread support, it is not the first time the Albion has raised its profile through an EDM.
West Ham MP Tony Banks tabled an EDM congratulating Albion on promotion to Division One two years ago.
This attracted 22 signatures and prompted an amendment by another MP, Fulham fan Stephen Pound, which recognised "the outstanding contribution of a large number of former Fulham players, especially the inspirational Simon Morgan".
Albion fans are asking stadium supporters to help persuade even more MPs to sign the Falmer EDM, number 889. For more details, log on to http://freespace.virgin.net/tim.carder
Planning inspector Charles Hoile, reviewing Brighton and Hove's Local Plan, has said Sheepcote Valley is preferable to Falmer as a location for a stadium.
But a final ruling has yet to come from Mr Prescott.
