Nine men were arrested after police smashed an illegal cock-fighting ring in Sussex.
A smallholding in Manhood, near Chichester, was raided by police and RSPCA inspectors on Sunday and 15 birds were seized.
The nine suspects, from Hampshire and Sussex, were arrested on suspicion of cockfighting. They were later released on bail and the investigation continues.
The seized birds were being cared for by the RSPCA.
Inspectors said the joint operation with police was designed to combat animal cruelty and in particular cockfighting on the Manhood peninsular.
Police and the RSPCA are urging members of the public to contact them with any information about the illegal sport.
