Worthing are struggling to field a side for Monday's Sussex Senior Cup final against Albion Reserves.

The Rebels could be without as many as 11 players for the showpiece at Eastbourne Borough's Priory Lane.

Stewart Holmes, Andy Lutwyche and Des Guile are all cup-tied while Shaun Grice and Darren Freeman are suspended.

Wes Lopez and Glen Davies are ruled out through injury while Andy Beech, Ben Carrington, Nko Ekoku and Clay Lamont are all doubtful with knocks.

Assistant-manager Danny Bloor said: "It will be a case of getting 11 players on the pitch. Then to find five to sit on the bench will be a major achievement.

"Sometimes things like this can work in your favour. It could be the worst preparation for a cup final but it could also pull you together.

"To get promoted with all the injuries we have had this year has been a fantastic achievement."

Bloor is sure Rebels will give Albion a good game.

He said: "Our cup form this year has been excellent. We will go into Monday's match as underdogs but I guarantee we will give them a good game."

Worthing secured promotion with a 2-1 win at Hampton and Richmond last Saturday, then stretched their excellent run to one defeat in 19 with a 1-1 draw at Slough Town on Tuesday.

They finish at home to Ashford Town (Middlesex) tomorrow.

Fellow Ryman League side Horsham's plans to move to a new ground have been given a boost.

The local council included provisions for a football stadium in a draft local plan this week. Director Jeff Barrett said: "After more than 20 years of searching, it now looks as though we will at last see our dream of a new stadium come to fruition."
