A fish and chip lunch on the pier is in store for delegates at a tourism and travel conference normally held in Paris.
About 50 French TV, radio, newspaper and travel trade journalists, tour operators and specialist travel firms will visit Brighton and Hove for the Meet The French event, hosted with the help of Visit Britain on May 25 and 26.
Delegates will visit the Dome to hear about top UK destinations and there will be a banquet at the Royal Pavilion hosted by the Brighton and Hove Visitor and Convention Bureau.
Guided tours of Brighton will be followed by fish and chips and champagne on the Palace Pier.
The delegates will also be given tours organised by Southern English Cities, a consortium of cities of which Brighton and Hove is a member.
They will be welcomed to the Dome by incoming mayor Pat Drake and Councillor Sue John, who is responsible for tourism and culture.
Coun John said: "Landing this event is a feather in the cap for Brighton and Hove.
"It's a great chance for us to show the movers and shakers of the French tourism industry the unique easy-going mix of culture, fun, good living, heritage and conference facilities we have here."
