Brighton and Hove Amnesty International group would like to thank all of those who made our Brighton Festival event at the Open House pub on May 7 possible.
The evening was an amazing success and raised more than £1,000 for Amnesty's work from ticket sales and the auction of 32 works of art from more than a dozen local artists.
This was the first time the group has taken part in the festival and it was the perfect way to launch our 40th birthday celebrations. The event was a sell-out and we can only apologise to those who were unable to get tickets.
I would particularly like to thank all the performers, including David Bramwell, Choman Fardi and all the artists who donated work, including Chris Riddell and Mark Power.
I'd also like to thank Deputy Mayor David Watkins for attending the event, everyone who helped with organisation, the pub for giving us free use of the venue and the Goa restaurant for supplying food.
-Emma Parker, group secretary, Brighton & Hove Amnesty International, Argyle Road, Brighton
