I am pleased to read football matches on Brunswick Lawns in Hove are to be banned (The Argus, May 11). Will the authorities now ban football on the bowling greens in Preston Park?
I feel very sorry for the poor groundsmen and women who work hard to create a perfectly manicured surface for bowling, only to have it torn up by young men having a kick-around. I have even seen cyclists and skateboarders on the greens.
Don't get me wrong, I am a big football fan and love to have a kick-about myself but it's important to respect other people's sports.
It's not as if there aren't any other facilities available on which to play football - Preston Park has more green space than just about any other park in the region. So can we please have a few signs up around the park banning football on the bowling greens and some action taken against hooligans who flout the law?
