Finance workers have voted in favour of a merger to create a "super-union".
Members of Unifi backed a merger with Amicus by 9-1, paving the way for the link-up in July.
Unifi's 140,000 members will join 50,000 finance workers in Amicus, which has a total membership of more than a million.
Ed Sweeney, general secretary of Unifi, said: "By combining the resources of these two great unions, we can represent members' interests much more forcefully."
He said equal pay, pensions, cost-cutting and job losses were issues to be tackled.
