The poor old Brighton and Hove traffic wardens are always getting moaned and shouted at wherever they go, especially on a hot, summer's day, so it is unbelievable that I would ever want to thank them.
However, on Sunday evening last week, a car caught fire outside Cissy Mo's in Church Street, Brighton, and the fire soon spread to the shop.
Within minutes, a dozen or so traffic wardens appeared and started controlling the crowd.
While doing this, they also managed to calm the scared girl trapped in the flat over Cissy Mo's (myself) by shouting up to me at the window.
They were at the scene and in control long before the fire brigade arrived.
Even when we residents had been removed from the building by the fire brigade, many of the wardens came over to make sure we were okay before heading off.
They have a difficult job and none of us will ever admit to liking them, however for once I was pleased that they were around. Thank you.
