In reply to PJ Green (Letters, May 26), when accidents involve an old woman (as she was so delightfully described), no reference is made to all the accidents involving under-50s. They seem to have been forgotten.
Most elderly drivers have clean licences and keep to the rules and it has been proved we are the most careful drivers.
This week, one driver cut me up on a roundabout and another raced by and shot in front, only to turn up the next turning without any indication. Another raced by, overtaking on a bend on a mobile phone.
To top it all, I was waiting behind a bollard (that said I should wait there) when a driver stopped on a bend flashing me to drive on. As I could see it was dangerous, I declined and waited. When he got opposite me, he opened his window and, still causing a hazard, gave me a mouthful of abuse.
I just said how delightful it was he could use such foul language yet couldn't read the Highway Code.
All these drivers were under 40.
