The Brighton and Hove group of Amnesty International is working towards the release of an Ethiopian prisoner, Mekonnen Dori, who was arrested and imprisoned nine years ago in Ethiopia.
We don't know much about his treatment in prison but we do know he has a heart condition that has caused him to go to hospital.
Amnesty International believes he was imprisoned for his personal beliefs. As part of our campaign to get him released, we have set up a petition that we intend to present to the Ethiopian Ambassador to the UK.
You can sign the petition on the internet by going to www.petitionline.com/ai12345. You can also sign the petition at a local Amnesty event.
The local group of Amnesty International meets on the first Thursday of every month at Community Base, Queens Road, Brighton at 8pm. New members are always welcome.
