As the Sussex Safety Camera Partnership (SSCP) will not answer my query regarding the siting of the automatic camera device at Old Shoreham Road, A270 and Ferndale Road, Hove, perhaps someone of knowledge can explain?
I wish to know why a camera is situated on the north side of the A270 among thick stump trees in full leaf concealing it from approaching drivers. If it was situated on the south side of the road, on-coming drivers would be aware, because the road is straight for some distance.
This section of the road is allegedly regarded as dangerous to children going to and from school and I presume they have to cross both south and north side of the road. Why is only the north side of the road protected?
Surely, if the true reason is child safety, then a pelican crossing is the answer? Of course, the police would not receive revenue from a pelican crossing, as compared with the financial award of a speed camera.
