Over 50s are the fastest-growing group of internet bank users in the country.
And more than a quarter of those who use online banking have accessed their accounts while on holiday, according to a survey by Natwest.
Silver surfers check their bank balance eight times a month, pay bills twice a month and review their statements six times a month online, the research found.
About 64 per cent of internet users over the age of 70 are logging on once a week to check their balance.
Simon Watt, Brighton branch manager at NatWest, Western Road, said: "We have seen a 58 per cent increase in the number of over 50s managing their finances online in the last year."
Carol Simpson, a NatWest customer, said: "I use the internet to check my balance before I go shopping.
"It's quick, efficient and easy enough even for me to use."
