What an abysmal season Sussex County Cricket Club are having.
Putting up the season ticket price by more than 30 per cent from last year was bad enough but surely members deserve better than this?
In a recent Twenty20 match at Hove, Surrey posted the second-highest score in the competition so far while Sussex's reply was a paltry 100 runs short - a complete letdown for the 4,500 people who turned up.
Apart from Ward and Adams and, to a lesser extent, newcomer Wright, the team seemed to be gutless.
Are off-field activities more important to some, such as Robin Martin Jenkins writing in The Argus (he never mentions his own performances) and Ian Ward working for Sky TV?
Now I see Chris Adams has been given a spot on the same channel.
Perhaps next we'll see Richard Montgomerie hosting University Challenge?
Peter Moores's cliches are wearing a bit thin, too. "We've got to bounce back!" etc.
Wake up Moores and wake up Sussex, it's just not good enough. If this carries on I will certainly not renew my membership next season, along with many others I would say.
