Your article about Anthony Buckeridge (The Argus, July 1), brought back the Fifties when, with my young sons, I listened to Jennings on the radio. I read the novels as soon as I could get my hands on them.

It is the eternal schoolboy in us that keeps young at heart those of us in our sunset years. There are moments when, with my stick, I cannot resist pressing the button on a pelican crossing then walking away and discreetly watching vehicles stop for the phantom pedestrian.
