I am horrified at the prospect of turning Stanmer House into luxury homes. Four million pounds of investment? Surely this means these homes will be out of reach of local residents on a Brighton wage?

The park was bequeathed to Brighton and Hove City Council for the people of Brighton and Hove.

The council has let the house fall into a disgusting state over the past 50 years - its answer? Sell it and make money. What happened to the original idea only a few years ago for respite/short term care for poorly children and their families?

Sorry, I forgot, that doesn't generate any revenue. Silly me.

The council underestimates how many people care what happens to this house. We have a right to know in the planning stages, not when it is too late.

I have been a regular visitor to Stanmer for 30 years, have always treated it with respect and believe, as many others do, regular maintenance and enforcement of parking appropriately would have sufficed. Instead, like the West Pier and so many other priceless gems, it is being ignored until it is past help and then sold off.

My home city has become unrecognisable and my views have become unimportant.

Money, property development and tourism have become the council's "god".

We, the voters, count for little and I am sad it has come to this.
