Some months ago, this whole area received notification, in writing, that refuse collection would be changed to Tuesday, commencing March 15. In the subsequent 17 weeks, it has never been picked up on that day but always on a Wednesday.
Bags put out on Monday night for Tuesday collection are therefore sitting outside for about 36 hours, with the inevitable problems from scavenging animals. You might well ask: Why put them out on Monday?
The answer is Cityclean has been beset with so many go-slows, work-to-rules, strike threats and refusals to catch-up it's likely the binmen are just permanently running late.
After several calls to the Hollingdean depot, I was informed that Wednesday was, in fact, our day, always had been and that they were not aware of the incorrect circular sent out in March.
I wrote to Tim Moore asked him to clarify the situation by recirculating the neighbourhood so we could avoid litter-strewn roads and pavements. That was more than three weeks ago and to date I have received no reply.
