Eastbourne Eagles pulled off a spectacular last-gasp win at Belle Vue last night.
Eagles were three points down going into the final heat in which the home team tracked world championship leader Jason Crump and former Eastbourne skipper Joe Screen.
Nicki Pedersen and David Norris stunned the crowd with a 5-1 over previously unbeaten Crump and Screen, who had come good with a win in the race before, to give the visitors a 45-44 Elite League victory.
A tremendous piece of team riding by the Eastbourne pair kept out Crump, who looked to be heading towards a 15-point maximum.
Eagles will be aiming to complete the double and add the bonus point to their haul over the Aces at Arlington on Saturday.
Pedersen and Norris aside, the Eastbourne star was 17-year-old Edward Kennett, who warmed up for this weekend's world under-21 semi-final in Sweden by winning three races.
Roman Povazhny made a winning return to British speedway with victory in his first ride as Eagles raced into a seven-point lead by taking the opening three heats.
Adam Shields followed Povazhny home to give Eastbourne an early 5-1 but the lead was cut to a point when Kenneth Bjerre and Rory Schlein finished one-two in heat ten.
Aces took the lead at 36-35 after 12 heats and when Eastbourne were denied in the next two races it was odds-on a home win.
Belle Vue: Jason Crump 13, Kaj Laukkanen 7, Kenneth Bjerre 6, Rory Schlein 5, Joe Screen 5, Scott Robson 5, Neil Collins 3.
Eastbourne: David Norris 11, Nicki Pedersen 11, Edward Kennett 9, Adam Shields 6, Roman Povazhny 6, Adrian Miedzinski 1, Davey Watt 1.
