Suzie Pierrepont is looking forward to her battle on the beach with Sussex colleague Linda Elriani in the first round of the Brighton and Hove Classic next month.

Brighton-based Pierrepont, 19, will fly in from America, where she has been coaching and training, a few days before the tournament starts.

She knows it is going to be tough against the world No.7 from Eastbourne but is looking forward to the experience on August 4.

She said: "Drawing Linda in the first round is unfortunate, especially as we train together.

"It is also a great experience for me because it is the first time I've drawn a top ten player in a world event. I have a huge amount of respect for Linda and everything she has achieved. I came through as a junior watching her play and she has set the bar for all of us."

Linda Elriani might be a strange name for squash fans to get used to. The former Miss Charman recently married French international Laurent Elriani at Alfriston Parish Church and it will be her first tournament using her married name.

The Brighton Beach Classic runs from August 3 to August 7 and is promoted by Squash247. Tickets are available online from www.ticketmaster.co.uk.

There are special packages early in the week for juniors, with tickets priced at £5 per session for under-16s.
