When is the illegally installed TETRA emergency services communications mast on top of Theobald House going to be removed?
A removal order followed pressure from green councillors but, several weeks later, the mast is still there and a motion by the Green Party asking for speedy removal of the mast has been referred to the policy and resources committee and planning applications sub-committee.
Since I last wrote, a police officer has died of throat cancer - the tumour appearing directly underneath where his TETRA handset was located. He was in his thirties, an active sportsman with a healthy diet. He didn't smoke or drink and had none of the preconditions for this sort of cancer.
Another officer on the same force has a tumour in the same location.
As all masts require full planning permission, why has the Council done nothing about the other masts all over Brighton that have never been safety-tested and are known to cause severe symptoms in people up to a mile away.
Campaign group Tetrawatch (www.tetrawatch.net) is demanding such masts be immediately replaced by a much safer system used in Europe called Tetrapol.
