If chocolate bars or biscuits carried health warnings that eating them may prove fatal, there would be a public outcry.
Yet smokers cheerfully ignore warnings on cigarette packets that smoking can kill you. Not only that, but smoking parents are seen smoking over young children and even babies while smokers in general believe they have the right to impose cigarette smoke on the majority who are non-smokers.
It is high time all smoking in public was banned. Apart from the risks to health, most people do not want to leave pubs and cafes smelling like the contents of a dustbin.
Smoke-free pubs would soon generate a lot of new customers who at present do not wish to sit in smoke-filled bars.
