Regarding the "no ball games" signs in Woodingdean (The Argus, July 20), it seems ironic that most of the people who have complained do not even live in the Closes where the football games are played.
They do not have to listen to the constant thumping of these hard leather footballs as they are kicked willy-nilly, not caring how many cars they hit or gardens they land in.
If you ask them to be careful you only get abuse or laughed at. I am sure other residents will confirm this.
Do these parents not have gardens and what is wrong with the field that runs from Falmer Road to the swing park at the far end of Langley Crescent?
If mums are so worried about their children, they could organise a rota to go with them to the field.
I do feel sorry for the small children not being able to play but strapping teenagers are another matter.
I have lived here more than 30 years and brought up my children and i have to say I am looking forward to the peace and quiet, as are my neighbours.
-(Mrs) Linda Barber, Sutton Close, Woodingdean
