Emma Sigournay helped Britain finish fourth at the European Junior Championships in Munich.

The vice captain, 19, scored 586 out of 600 points as her three-member side bagged a British record 1,755.

In the individual prone event featuring 26 nations, the Southwick ace was 15th from 57 competitors. She won a gold medal in the Six Nations in Surrey in calm conditions last year and was delighted with how she coped in windy conditions in Munich.

The Sussex champion said: "I was pleased to prove myself in windy and still conditions. There was enough wind to move the bullets around in the air.

"I was also happy with how much my ability to cope mentally on the range has improved. It only takes a strong heartbeat and you can miss the bullseye.

"I used to get very nervous about messing up but I've learned not to worry and that showed in Munich."

Sigournay won the individual and ladies' long-range events representing Southampton at the British Universities Sports Association.

She helped Britain finish fourth in the Suhl International Junior Open, involving 18 countries, in Germany earlier this year.

Sigournay also won a gold medal for Britain's juniors at a friendly tri-nations event in Germany.
