Kirsty Finnegan (The Argus, August 11) echoes my sentiment entirely on the silly ritual of the gay pride march.
Why should valuable resources be allocated to such an event when they could be used for so many other much more needy causes?
It is distressing to see how many policemen were allocated to this event. In view of the stories we are fed of a force which is so underpaid, undermanned and overworked, it just does not add up. Where did all these spare officers come from?
Add to this unsavoury mix "the crowd cheered and applauded them all along the route".
To add insult to injury, hordes of cleaners were employed next day to clean up the mess left behind by these Pride marchers.
What a shame their sense of pride didn't extend further than the label of their sexuality.
Is this all Brighton has to be proud of? What a legacy.
