Worthing suffered their second league defeat after a first-half goal gave Hampton and Richmond a 1-0 win at Woodside Road.
Rebels, fielding a much changed side, were hit on 27 minutes when Jamie Jarvis claimed the only goal by deflecting in a 25-yard free kick from Michael Currie.
Worthing boss Alan Pook, without injured forward Sam Francis, did his best to freshen things up by pushing Mark Knee up front while former Albion captain Paul Rogers came off the bench early into the second half.
But the visitors looked the more likelier team to score and keeper Mark Ormerod made a good save from Adrian Allen before Dean Wells headed over from a corner by Alan Inns.
Worthing's Moroccan midfielder Youness Nabil should have hit the target when set up by a cross from Nko Ekoku from the right, but he put his header wide.
