The newest addition to Brighton Marina looks like it could sail out to sea at any moment.
A 70sqm canopy and two 12m galvanised steel masts top off a new marina reception building, resembling a large yacht amid the many already moored to the docks.
The centre is part of a £10 million revamp of facilities by owners Premier Marinas.
People working there now have panoramic views over the entrance and the marina itself, to help better control of boat movements.
Every element of the building was carried to the top of the jetty on trolleys, including eight tons of metal, six tons of concrete, a ton of glass and a one-ton staircase.
Future proposed changes to the West Jetty include an enhanced security system and easier access to the reception for customers.
Premier Marinas has also spent the summer replacing pontoons, dredging the waters and extending the fuel bay.
Managing director Tim Mason said: "The new working environment will improve service to all our customers.
"The huge refurbishment project has been a great success and the marina is now the fullest marina in the UK with 1,310 berth-holders."
