Friday night, August 20, was what can only be described as one of the best nights of my life, and all down to The Argus.
On Thursday morning I was surprised and delighted to get a phonecall from The Argus confirming I had won the Jameson's Irish Whiskey competition.
Having just come back from a holiday with our children and being very broke, I was thrilled that I could treat my partner and four friends to a night out.
It was in the private members club part of the Koba, near Waitrose - known as Hacienda Heights in my younger days - and we all arrived at 6.45 for a Jameson's cocktail session where we all did some hands-on work, followed by a £300 bar tab.
We learned an awful lot about Irish whiskey - who would've thought you could mix it with raspberries?
We were all hooked. One of my friends had never drunk whiskey before in her life and was very impressed.
My only complaint was that there were quite a few stairs in the building that seemed to go all wobbly as I left around midnight.
The next day I was still chuckling over hilarious moments from the evening.
Superb venue, superb service, superb whiskey. Thank you.
