Watching Restoration on TV, it saddened me that Brighton seems to be in the grip of demolition fever.

The last remnants of the old railway works and Brighton's industrial heritage - the only interesting buildings along New England Street - have been flattened to make way for a mediocre supermarket development while a lovely Lutyens-style half-timbered brick villa on the corner of Preston Park Avenue and Stanford Avenue has been wantonly destroyed - for what? I hate to think.

More enlightened planners would have restored the Victorian warehouses on the edge of the station site into loft apartments or artists' studios (and put the new Albion stadium sensibly next to the station) and slapped a preservation order on a beautifully detailed Thirties house in such a sensitive location.

It seems in Brighton anything that's not Regency is fair game for the bulldozers.
