What an excellent idea from Mrs C Maddison that Brighton and Hove schoolchildren should attend the Old Steine Remembrance Sunday service in groups of ten (Letters, August 28).
I took part in the Anzac Day on April 25 at the London Cenotaph and Westminster Abbey when the Gallipoli Association combined for the services. Cadets from Merchant Taylor's School in Hertfordshire attend annually because an old boy won the Victoria Cross at Gallipoli.
A head boy and girl from a school in Australia read prayers. Then at Westminster Abbey prayers are read from young people from Australia and New Zealand, including three Western Australia schools. I hope that the Brighton branch of British Legion will be able to invite the schools to take part in the November Remembrance Sunday.
