Injury-plagued midfielder Simon Rodger has suffered another setback hours before he was due to make his long-awaited return.
He was due to make his comeback tonight for his first match in a year after knee ligament trouble.
However, Rodger has now picked up a calf injury and is ruled him out of the reserves' Combination match against Crawley at Worthing's Woodside Road.
Rodger said: "It's frustrating and disappointing. I've been waiting a long time. I felt strong running in training on Friday but I must have done too much and I felt the calf on Saturday morning.
"But I'm not too worried. Danny Cullip (Albion captain) told me that from his experience you're always likely to pick up little niggles after being out for a while. It is already responding to treatment."
Rodger, 32, has now set his sights on playing for the reserves in a friendly against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road in eight days time.
He said: "I hope to be training by the end of next week and should be okay to play against Orient."
