I read your article about Dr Rodney Tate (The Argus, August 25).
I have known Dr Tate for 35 years and have nothing but praise for him. As a family GP, he has looked after four generations of my family.
My first meeting with him was when my son was four.
Dr Tate was the only one in the practice to take any notice. He suspected my son had perthes hip.
He managed to get him to see the best orthopaedic surgeon in the south to treat him and operate on him. My son is now a fit, healthy, 35-year-old father-of-two.
When my parents were both in their 80s, it was never too much trouble for him to visit them any time I asked. He was an angel to them.
As for my husband and myself, he was a great doctor and also a friendly person to talk to, no matter what the subject.
He always made time for us. I really miss him as my GP. Every time I go to the surgery I ask, "is Dr Tate Back yet?"
