Vic Short celebrated his first FA Cup win as manager of East Preston last night when his side beat Rye and Iden 3-1 in their preliminary round replay.

Short said: "It is the first time I have won an FA Cup tie in the four years I have been at East Preston. I'm well chuffed."

"Rye deserved to win on Saturday but we played really well and earned our place last night."

East Preston now face Merstham, who beat County League Hassocks on Saturday.

Dave Walker opened the scoring with a header, converted a penalty before an own goal completed EP's tally.

In the Sussex RUR Cup, Oakwood's Gerald Manville took his goals tally for the season to three as he struck twice in the last five minutes to earn last season's semi-finalists a 2-0 victory over Broadbridge Heath.
