Albion manager Mark McGhee today urged Leon Knight to raise his workrate to end a strange goal drought.
The Seagulls' prolific striker, top marksman last season with 25 League goals, has not scored in open play since the 2-0 home win against Hartlepool at the start of April.
Knight was on target from the penalty spot against Peterborough a fortnight later and in the play-off final against Bristol City.
He has drawn a blank in three outings so far in the Coca-Cola Championship after missing the first three matches through suspension.
McGhee admits Knight's team-mates have not been creating enough chances for him but says the former Chelsea ace could do more to help himself.
"It's a double-edged sword. We have not been making a lot of chances as a team and there is no doubt about it, Leon is a striker who needs to be playing in an area of the field where we are making chances.
"He doesn't need a lot of chances to score, but you have to be making the right type of chances in the right area of the field. We have not been doing enough of that so we are culpable.
"Equally, I still feel very strongly that Leon can work harder to get himself into positions. He's not missed chances, but he has missed opportunities to have a chance.
"There were opportunities in the first half-hour at Leicester when, if he had really been determined and hungry for a goal, he might have got himself on the end of something.
"I felt he wasn't quite there, which is probably also down to the three-match suspension he served at the start of the season."
