I was delighted Gill Mitchell could tell us the council's recycling service is improving and our rates as a city are increasing (Letters, August 19).
But talking to people about recycling, as I do, there are still questions: Where can I recycle my plastic? Why can't the council collect from blocks of flats? I can't compost because I live in a flat. I've been told recycling services are coming to my road soon but I don't know when. I was given a recycling box but there wasn't any information with it.
People want to compost as well as recycle and the council has to meet targets for both recycling and reducing the amount of biodegradable material (paper, card, green and kitchen waste) it sends to landfill. So it is puzzling why Coun Mitchell thinks collecting material for composting shouldn't count.
Compostable material is as valuable as anything else that goes into the recycling box.
