Bosses should encourage their staff to put their feet on the desk and gaze out of the window if it helps them engage in creative thinking.
The call to encourage workplace creativity is being made in the run-up to the first nationwide Share Ideas Day on September 12.
According to creativity expert Andy Green, of creativity@work, too many managers are still behaving like Victorian mill owners.
Backing the call for "feet-up inspiration" is TV presenter and historian Adam Hart Davies.
