A movie made by the Brighton founders of percussion show Stomp has been voted the best in the world.
Pulse, by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, was judged the best Imax film at the prestigious Montreal festival.
The film is a celebration of the world of rhythm and an epic journey to find the world's best percussionists.
Scenes include an Indian elephant procession, American marching bands and English bell-ringers.
Pulse was premiered in Brighton last November. Last year Luke and Steve won the prize for the best sound at the same festival.
Speaking from Montreal, Luke said: "We did not expect to win but I suppose our film was the most innovative and original.
"It is a great honour to win this award as it is an award from your peers in the industry.
"It is strange to win an award for being a film-maker.
"Last year we won for being the best sound and we thought we might stand a chance for the same award again but we did not think we would walk off with the best film."
Luke and Steve spent several years travelling the globe to make the film.
Critics said the experience of Pulse made you feel you were actually in a concert hall with perfect sound.
Many of the live performances were recorded in extreme locations including deserts and remote African villages.
