I despair of local authorities which allow the obliteration of our history and culture.

I recently passed by a pub in Hove called The Biscuit Factory, which I fondly remember as The Wick.

I understand that it has also been known, bizarrely, as Nan Tuck's Tavern (relating to a witch from Lewes).

Can someone explain why the pub is no longer known as The Wick?

The name relates back centuries to this part of Hove and in keeping with the trend of interest in the area's past should be respected as part of its heritage.
