Mark McGhee felt "physically sick" last night as his old club Wolves snatched their first win of the season.

The Albion manager was devastated by an unfortunate 1-0 defeat at Withdean.

Kenny Miller's first half header ended the Seagulls' three-match unbeaten run and dropped them below Wanderers to 20th in the Coca-Cola Championship.

McGhee could not disguise his disappointment but took comfort from the quality of his young team's performance against Wolves.

"I feel physically sick", he said. "It's probably the most disappointed I have been by any result since I've been here. We played so well. We passed the ball well and our shape was great.

"We are still maybe looking for a bit more penetration but that will come.

"We have got players that can produce that.

"We looked every bit a Championship team and that has got to be pleasing.

"We did not get anything like we deserved."

Centre half Guy Butters limped off in the second half with a calf injury and is now doubtful for Saturday's home game against Queens Park Rangers.

McGhee said: "I think he will be struggling for Saturday but we don't know yet how bad it is. We will certainly miss Guy.

"He and Danny (Cullip) have been excellent but Kerry Mayo went in there and Dan Harding is an international left back.

"He was not a bad substitute."

Simon Rodger makes his comeback in a reserve team friendly at Leyton Orient today after a year out with knee ligament damage.

Charlie Oatway, who was on the bench last night, and Richard Carpenter continue their returns from injury.
