Your editorial comment allocating blame for the parlous state of Brighton and Hove Albion's finances appeared somewhat one-sided.
The board took over in 1997 when there were several possible sites for a stadium - indeed, Ken Bodfish suggested Waterhall but when the Albion commissioned a consultant to prepare a report it was not considered as it was "north of the A27".
As a result Falmer was selected and the campaign started. If the club expected the residents of Falmer and others who were affected to roll over without a fight then it doesn't say much for their judgement. Who's to blame?
The club then went ahead with all their eggs in one basket and no contingency plan, arrogantly assuming that with the help of the city council and the support of The Argus all would be well. Who's to blame?
The pro-Falmer body have behaved like spoilt children and their subsequent efforts since the inspectors reports to Mr Prescott have been similarly childish.
Not to appear totally anti, may I offer two suggestions for raising funds - Ask, through The Argus, all those who voted Yes in the referendum to contribute £100 to show their sincerity.
Ask Atilla the Stockbroker to sell signed copies of Falmer Pond, as published in your paper, and contribute the returns to the club. That could raise a fiver.
