Brighton bomber Patrick Magee proudly tells us he would plant the Brighton bomb again (The Argus, September 11).
He killed five people and injured 34 others through his actions but was released five years ago from the Maze prison as part of the Good Friday agreement to start the peace process in Northern Ireland.
As the 20th anniversary approaches, many people will reflect on his actions with great sadness.
Magee says he regretted the loss of life but I wonder what he expected would happen when planted the bomb in the very busy Grand hotel?
He must have known what he was doing and what the devastating results of the bomb would be.
If, looking back, he would still have planted the bomb, I cannot see how he can regret the loss of innocent life he inflicted.
Claiming he was targeting the British establishment and not the Conservative government, he states he would equally have targeted a Labour cabinet.
Magee, who lives in west Belfast with his second wife and two sons, has nothing to be proud of and was lucky to be released. His actions never can be justified.
