Supermodel Jodie Kidd has got engaged to internet entrepreneur Aidan Butler, her family confirmed yesterday.

The 25-year-old millionairess, who grew up in Sussex, has been seeing Mr Butler since they met in May - just weeks after her split from polo player Tarquin Southwell, 31.

Her brother Jack told The Argus: "It was him that proposed. They are planning to get married very soon.

"They don't know what is going to happen or where they are doing it.

"But Aidan is a really nice chap - he is a good guy."

The news has been welcomed by Jodie's parents Johnny and Wendy, but will spell heartbreak for would-be suitors - England cricketer Simon Jones and Irish TV presenter Patrick Kielty have both been linked to the 6ft 1in model.

Jodie said recently of Mr Butler, 27: "He's so lovely, he's the best and kind and great and he loves me.

"He's kind and decent and generous. I've always been attracted to the bad guys, thinking I could tame them. But with Aid it's just very comfortable - very kind of like 'I want to spend the rest of my life with you'.

"I've always thought whoever I meet I'm going to be with for the rest of my life, but now I've actually met him.

"It was immediate. I've found my soulmate."

Mr Butler, from Redditch, Worcestershire, founded an internet company in Australia for job-seekers.

The couple are said by friends and family to have fallen deeply in love since competing on opposing teams in the Gumball Rally, the six-day, 3,000-mile car race across France, Spain and North Africa.
