Lewes manager Steven King hailed his side's character after they played for 70 minutes with ten men in a 1-1 home draw against Thurrock.
Defender Jay Lovett was sent off after 20 minutes for a second bookable offence.
It got worse on 69 minutes when Thurrock scored through Jonny Buffong, but Lee Newman came off the bench to equalise five minutes from time to extend Lewes' unbeaten run to five games.
King said: "The character of the players was magnificent. When you have to play for that long with ten men and you go behind, it takes something to come back and almost win it."
