Helen Harvey has been named Payroll Manager of the Year.
She was given the honour by the Institute of Payroll and Pensions Management (IPPM) at its inaugural awards ceremony this month.
Helen works for Brighton-based Enable, which was the first payroll company in the country to implement an electronic PAYE return system.
She has 12 years' experience as a payroll manager and is a leading contributor to the IPPM's policy-making, specifically on small employer issues.
Alison Ward, chairman of the IPPM, said: "It required a significant personal strength of character to persevere through the myriad problems that arose."
